Pigment Laser

Q-Switch laser for Pigmentation

The Q-switched laser is used to treat benign pigment skin concerns including ‘liver spots’ (brown age spots) and melasma.  Q-switched laser can also be used to rejuvenate and give the skin a natural glow.

How is the procedure performed?

You are welcomed into our laser procedure room where you are guided to our treatment couch.  Before the treatment commences, protective eyewear is placed over your eyes. During the treatment for benign sun-spots, you will feel a prickling or snapping similar to the feel of a rubber band striking the skin.  The intensity of the sensation depends on the condition being treated and settings chosen by your practitioner. This is very well tolerated by the vast majority of patients.  When used for skin toning for the treatment of melasma and general rejuvenation, a gentle warmth is all that is felt.

After the treatment for benign sun-spots, your skin will develop flaking and superficial scabs. This can take around 7 to 10 days to heal depending on the treated area.  There is no after-effects on your skin when Q-switch laser is used for the purposes of melasma treatment and general rejuvenation.
