How Much Do Online Dermatology Consultations Cost?

An initial online video consultation with a specialist dermatologist is $180.

A subsequent consultation is $140

Unfortunately, at this stage, Medicare rebates do not apply for TeleHealth consultations for specialists.

Melbourne Skin & Dermatology offers live video online consultations (telemedicine / teledermatology) for dermatological conditions for anyone living in Australia, not just Victoria.

An online dermatologist will provide a consultation and assess your skin with our thorough protocols to provide you with expert management in the comfort and safety of your home.

A diagnosis will be made, tests arranged if required, and your treatments (prescription or otherwise) will be delivered directly to your door.

Dermatologists at Melbourne Skin & Dermatology are highly trained at making a diagnosis and providing appropriate treatments based on images and online consultations.

Dermatology is a unique speciality where a diagnosis can be made primarily based on the appearance of the condition.  Whilst getting your story is just as important, in most situations, seeing the skin problem alone gives us enough information to make a diagnosis and arrange appropriate management of your skin problem.

There are some skin conditions that are particularly easy to manage using online dermatology consultations.  Such conditions include;

  • Any rash
  • Skin allergies
  • Acne
  • Rosacea
  • Eczema and dermatitis
  • Psoriasis
  • Melasma
  • Some forms of hair loss
  • Skin infections
  • Skin cancer concerns can be seen online in the first instance, and if concern is raised by your dermatologist, a subsequent face-to-face appointment is arranged.

With an online video or telehealth dermatology consultation, a full medical history is taken in a live video discussion and your skin is thoroughly examined.  Any photos you send to us are also assessed. Further tests can be arranged if it becomes required.  Treatments are then provided with the ability for us to organise your dispensed medication to be posted directly to you so there is no need for you to collect a script or travel to a pharmacy.  A subsequent face-to-face consultation or procedure may be arranged if this thought to be required.

We use many forms of technology easily accessible by you for online skin consultations including FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, WebEx and WhatsApp.
